What makes a great background wallpaper for your computer

By: Michelle Massey

We all love to customize our computers desktop but often when we are searching for a background wallpaper to use we get either annoying pop up ads constantly and never actually get to the image! Or the images themselves are poor quality and not something you would want to put on your computer desktop to look at all day!You wouldn't frame and put up on your wall an ugly annoying picture so why do these wallpapers sites think you want one for your desktop.

With this in mind, and the fact that I am a professional photographer I decided to create a background wallpaper site that offers free high quality images that you would happily look at all day.

Computers can be the central hub of work and stress, therefore I have concentrated on beautiful imagery from the best source of relaxation - mother nature. Dreamy Skies, beautiful flowers, calming water, Tree vistas and close ups of textures, patterns and natural details.

In the Abstract background wallpaper gallery the images are of everyday details that are often missed in our busy lives. The beautiful details of the world around us taken from a different perspective often causes people to stop and think, forgetting our worries for that moment. For instance I have photos of Fabrics, metals and plastics but because they are taken at such a magnification that our eyes don't normally see they automatically become interesting. Take condensation inside an electric steamer, water droplets on the bonnet of a car or close up details of wood grain. Do you ever think of a manhole cover, chain link fence or light bulb as art? - well they can be.

We all love to look at a gorgeous summer sky with white fluffy clouds or dramatic golden skies at the end of the day - so why not have it as your background wallpaper for your PC. The wonderful thing about the sky is it changes constantly and never looks the same even from minute to minute. So next time you're out don't forget to take a second to look up and marvel in the natural beauty above our heads - you'll be glad you did. If you do this each day it will encourage a more realxing lifestyle. One thing I have learnt from my love of photography is you should always STOP and take a second to look around - you never no what you might see and therefore might have missed.

Lots of us have a natural affinity to water which obviously comes from being in the womb. Water has so many different shapes and forms that it makes an ideal subject for photography and therefore fantastic wallpaer backgrounds.
Imagine sitting at your desk at work being able to view your computers desktop at any time and there is a beautiful calm river or a gentle rippling lake or what about rolling waves on a sandy beach - sounds good to me!
So many people love to have a water feature in their garden at home but the beauty of the camera is that it can freeze a moment in time and shows such things as a fountain frozen in time capturing its detail and form.
When light hits water you get both reflection and refraction which makes an endless pallette of colors, this combined with the surrounding environment is what makes water so attractive to us. Watery patterns make excellent background wallpaers as well.

Flowers, everyone loves a beautiful flower. They are used for so many occasions from birth to death, Marriage, parties and just decorating your house and garden. So therefore these make perfect desktop pictures.
The sheer variety of color and texture gives so much scope to the photographer. Capturing the essence of a flower takes time and skill - on the site you won't find snapshots of a vase of daffodils what you will find are close up details showing the delicacies of petals and stamens etc. And beautiful imagery showing a mass of color.

Sunset - often this is my favorite time of the day photgraphers call it the 'golden hour' and because cloud patterns are never the same sunsets are always different and unpredictable. One day the sun will set and photographically there's nothing to see it just gets darker! But then the next day the sun goes down and the whole shy lights up and becomes a work of art - absolutely glorious to behold. Its this potential for absolute beauty that draws photographers back time and time again. The best sunset views would be over fields, lakes and the coast. But having said that, there is a strange beauty in a fiery sky over a cityscape that can make an amazing image.

Trees -whether it be a lone tree or a forest or a close up details of bark or leaves - trees offer so much potential for beautiful imagery. The seasonal changes add to this diversity of texture and color. From lush freens to golden Autumnal vistas. Even star graphic winter branches can make very pleasing backgrounds.

I hope this has wetted your appetite and you will visit my site to share in this natural beauty I have captured. I would like everyoune to have a relaxing background wallpaper on their computer to aid relaxation and help inner calm.
