Preparing for the SSAT and ISEE

The SSAT and ISSE are examinations, which are given by public and private institutions to examine the capabilities of possible students. Some schools use the combine benefits of both tests, however some often choice the test that best fits their needs.

The Secondary Schools Admissions Test covers a wide range of reading passages in the comprehension section. The Independent Schools Selection Examination on the other hand restricts itself in its reading passages to a limited range of history, social studies and science subjects.

The SSAT begins with an essay section and the ISSE does the reverse, ending with an essay. In multi choice section the SSAT gives a choice of 5 sections, whereas the ISSE gives only 4 options.

The ISSE contains carefully set-up, consistently verbal and measurable reasoning tests designed to gauge the student's capability of learning. It also includes mathematical tests and reading comprehension passages that evaluates and gives stats of the Students academic challenges and talents.

The SSAT, though it's structure is a bit different it was carefully constructed and it has the same goal in mind. Discovering the child's academic capability, and was designed to make the application process easier for the recommending teacher as well as the students.

The SSAT is a widely used admission test in North America as well as some 700 English Medium International Schools, for non-public and independent as well as educational organizations from all over the world.

The ISSE is used by many independent schools and if your child is applying to a Catholic school they may well be asked to sit the Catholic High School Entrance Exam.
