Increased Internet usage in Europe means more telecom vacancies

By: Jhoana Cooper

While the rest of the world has been steadily seeing increases in their number of residents who have Internet access, Europe is one of the leaders in the statistics. As more individuals continue to use the Internet, more telecom vacancies will be available for new workers who are eager to do their part to fill these European jobs and to keep the continent far ahead of the rest of the world.

Telecom vacancies in the Internet fields have grown as more people, businesses, and educational facilities go online. In 2007, statistics showed that nearly 50% of the population of Europe was already using the Internet that was comparable to just under 20% for the rest of the world. Only North America with 73% and Australia with nearly 60% rank higher. However, more European jobs are opening in the telecom industry to meet the growing demand for more Internet infrastructure, particularly high-speed infrastructure.

Of course, the telecom vacancies in the Internet field vary from country to country. Germany leads the rest with nearly 60% of its population having Internet access. That’s compared to Portugal with less than 10% of its population having online access. Clearly, that means if you’re looking for telecom vacancies in these fields you can expect the largest growth to be in countries such as Portugal, Poland, and the Netherlands which are working to catch up with the number of telecommunication European jobs in countries like Germany, the United Kingdom, and France.

Recent statistics have shown that some other areas are likely to have a large number of European jobs available in telecommunication fields. Remember that a tremendous growth in Internet usage is going to require more telecom vacancies to be developed and eventually filled. Eastern European jobs in these areas are particularly growing quickly because some of those countries have since enormous increases in Internet usage. Between 2000 and 2007, Hungary, Romania, and Russia saw triple digit growth: 389%, 775%, and 848%, respectively. With those types of statistics, the European jobs in these areas should be numerous and the telecom vacancies are probably still quite high. Growth in Western Europe during the same period has also been prolific in some countries, including France, Greece, and Italy.

Finding European jobs in the telecommunication industry on the continent isn’t as difficult as you might think. Both Western and Eastern parts are continuing to see amazing changes in the industry, especially as new technology opens new doors and creates all new telecom vacancies. The challenge, however, can be in finding those telecom vacancies when they exist.
