Christian Home Business Principles & Christian Mentoring - Part 2

By: Joshua Valentine

In part one of this series we briefly spoke about the principle of stewardship that is taught throughout the bible. Your Christian Home Business is no different. Stewarship is basically how we govern the gifts and provisions that have been given to us from the Lord. We are held accountable for the stewardship of our Christian Home Business just as the Lord holds us accountable in other areas of our lives.

The bible teaches us much about stewardship. Many examples within The Word clearly defines the principle of stewardhip. For one example I would like to paraphrase a passage in Luke. For the exact Wording refer to Luke 19:12-27.

The parable is that of a ruler who left to take control over another kingdom. While he was gone he left some business or property with ten different slaves to be stewards of his business while he was away. Upon his return he ordered that three of the slaves who had stewardship to be brought to him to show what they have done.

When called in to give an account for his stewardship the first servant gave his report. He said, "Master, you have given me one mina and now I have 10." This servant was a faithful steward, he applied the law of increase to what he had stewardship over. The master rewarded this faithfulness by giving him authority over 10 cities. The second servant had increased the mina by five and was then rewarded with 5 cities to oversee.

The third slave said, "Master, here is your mina, I have hid it away because I was afraid of you." The master replied, "Take the mina from him and give it to the one who has ten minas. To him who has more will be given and to him who does not have even what he has will be taken."

Wow! This is a tough truth. We as Christians in our home business are given stewardship over our business, over our time we put into it, over our mentoring to our team and every aspect of it. What can we take from this parable?

When was the last time you looked at the people in Christian Home Business as something that your are to be a steward over? The truth is each person on your team is a provision from the Lord and it is your responsibility to teach, train and develop them within your business. Evaluating your gifts and the gifts of those you are working with will help you serve others.

Your Christian business will grow based upon your stewardship of your resources and talents. From the parable we can see that if God has called you into your business He will provide and increase for those that are being stewards according to His will. Please understand I am not talking about prosperity preaching or anything like that I am speaking biblical Truth that the Lord will bless you according to His will in accordance with scripture.
