The most important thing in a company is not what it does. It is how it's called. The name and logo are two main messages you give others about your company, its qualities and weaknesses. That's why choosing a business name is a top importance for anyone - including work-at-home businesses.

Time is your worst enemy when it comes to choosing a home business name. If you try to speed up the process as most business owner do, you will probably end with some very poor name instead of a real blockbuster.

Here's how we can come up with a decent business name. First of all, we start from deciding what feeling you'd like to incite in others. Those feelings will then be used by customers to decide if they want to buy anything from you. Write them down and use to score the names you have. Then choose the name which responds to the most of the feelings.

Do not stop creating new potential business names until you have about a dozen. Only then start to compare them and decide which one is the best. Without a good list of names, all you can hope for if some half-baked company name that could have some potential. If you want something really brilliant, you need to create at least fifteen company names.

Do not hesitate and ask your relatives for help. Just make sure they will be 100% honest with you. The point is that you simply have to know what others will think about your business name and your family is an excellent testing ground. Especially watch very closely reactions of those people who are very close to your target group. If they like it, everything's fine. If not, you should reconsider your choice.

Remember that even the best name is of no use if someone else has thought about it first. You can't name your company Microsoft! That's why you have to check your website name with a Whois service and ask your lawyer if there is any company under this name anywhere around. If not, you may proceed. If not, you have to get back a bit and come with another name.

Never hurry up anyone trying to make up a new business name. The process takes weeks and there is little you can do to make it shorter without endangering the name's quality. Take your time and simply make sure that all projects of names will help your company to improve its image.
